What are the effects of Computers and Internet in our life?

A computer is an electronic device that manipulates information, or data. It has the ability to store, retrieve, and process data.

The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet protocol suite 

(TCP/IP) to link several billion devices worldwide or in other words it is a  global network connecting millions of computers.



Nowadays, these technologies are very important and commonly use as means of communication to the outside world.

Many people uses internet and computer for business and personal use.

Internet is very important for business development

For business minded people, these means of communication are very important for them to gain more customers or clients, get feedbacks through there website and enhance their service. Business people use these to make their service be known to far places and get some customers/clients overseas. With the use of internet businessmen can save time and money through video conferencing. They can use these for their business meetings and interviews.


Most users use these for personal intention. Actually, I read an article that said, using the Internet is like walking around the big city  and we can do it without going to other places, if you have a computer or a smart phone connected to the  internet, you can find many information just by staying on your comfortable place. We use these to communicate to our relatives working or living abroad and keeping in touch with them. These technologies can help us feel that they are still near  us. We can also use these to plan for vacations, buying tickets, locate people, places and things that I want. We also use this to earn money by writing blogs or having a home base jobs. Aside from these that I have mentioned, there are so many benefits we get from using the computer and the internet.

Bad side of the Internet

On the flip side, the accessibility to so much information can have disadvantages. If we are using the internet we need also to be very careful. There are bad people out there, the hackers, who are just waiting for someone they can victimized. You need not to provide all confidential information on the web because there are softwares or malware, if installed unnoticed, can track all your keystrokes and  that is one way a hacker can access all of your information.

Here are some disadvantages of using the internet:

• Spamming: Unwanted emails often obstruct the entire computer system. This is illegal and can be very frustrating for the user. If you carelessly openned the spam or suspicious email, you are giving opportunity to the spammer to access  your computer and personal infomation. It is better to call your ISP (Internet service provider) for them to check if that certain email is a scam or not if that email tells you about your ISP, but if it has to do with a subscription, think first if you subscribed to a particular site or ads to minimize clicking on the link they provide. 
• Personal Information Security: There is no guarantee that your personal information would be safe on the internet. It can even be hacked from the secure networks of a bank so better not give all confidential information online. 
• Threat of Virus: Computers are always at a threat of Viruses if they are connected to the internet. It can disrupt the normal functions of a computer. 
• Pornography: Pornography is the biggest issue on the internet. It can adversely affect the mental health of individuals especially if the users are children.
• Addiction: Some people are getting addicted to the internet and thus causing problems with their interactions of friends and loved ones.

Be responsible when using the internet

Netizens (also mean users of the internet) needs to be very careful and vigilant in using these technologies. They can help us make our life easier, help us find new friends, contact our relatives from far places and some of us use these to search for loved ones online but with carelessness these technologies can also ruin our lives.
