How To Deal with Hacked Email Account?


Do you receive calls coming from your contacts that they receive an email from you asking for money because you are stranded on a certain island or place?  or Have you encountered any suspicious activity from your account?
or Are you not able to access your account using your password? Then this could be a sign that your account got hacked.





What to do to a hacked account?

  1. Reset your password. Make sure you reset your password to a unique and strong one to make sure that you are the only person who is accessing your account.
  2. Change all answers to your security questions all online and offline questions.
  3. Check your email settings. Make sure no suspicious emails are added to your account.  
         For yahoo email -> open email account page ->click on the Gear Icon on the top right                  beside your name -> go to Settings -> click on ACCOUNTS -> click on your email address            on the Email Address box then make sure to check on these: 
  • On the Reply-to-Address  make sure that it is empty or has your own email address.
  • On the Pop-and-Forward make sure that the POP is selected or if the FORWARD  is selected then it must have an email that you recognized or you created or else better to disable the FORWARD setting and select POP instead.
  • Filters must be empty unless you are the one who created it.
  • Banned Addresses must be empty unless you are the one who entered those email address.
              Note: Dont forget to SAVE all the changes made.

   4. Make sure also to run your Antivirus or Anti-malware program  to make sure that  your computer        is free from viruses or any kinds of malware.




You can also call your email provider to make sure that there is no suspicious information added to your account.
