One-on-One Interview with Alden Richards in Cebu (Part II)

PART II.  Richards reveals when ‘Yaya Dub’ will speak

PEOPLE are growing curious about when they will hear Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza’s real voice. Alden Richards told Cebu media it will be soon. Here’s the second part of the interview with Richards during his press conference in Cebu last Friday.

Question (Q): There is one episode in Kalyeserye when you cried while singing God Gave Me You. Why did you cry? What was in your mind?

Aden Richards (AR): The song means a lot to me kasi and I was so overwhelmed. While singing that, everything came back to me. My mom, the fans. Everything that is happening in my life. And it came to my mind that I’ve been thanking a lot of people on social media but I haven’t really gotten the chance to thank Maine personally. That’s why I dedicated that song to her.

Q: You’re doing an MMFF (Metro Manila Film Festival) with Vic Sotto, Ai Ai delas Alas and Maine. Is Maine talking already?

AR: Yes. She’s out of the yaya character na. She’s not gonna be Yaya Dub on that film. Yun lang po ang pwede ko ng sabihin for now (That’s all I can tell you for now).

Q: Other MMFF entries made adjustments (to their films) like adding other love teams so they can compete with your movie. What can you say about it?

AR: Well kasi kami naman po, when AlDub started, there was already a plan for us to be included in Bossing Vic Sotto’s movie.

Q: What are your upcoming projects?

AR: Meron pong coming na (There’s a coming) soap opera. Hopefully this year or early next year. I don’t know yet who my co-stars are. Wala pa pong plans. As of now, I am busy finishing the movie. Shooting TVCs (television commercials). Then album launch. So marami pa (there’s a lot more). There is no time for the soap yet.

Q: Is it true you will have a movie with Yaya Dub this coming Valentine’s Day?

AR: That I don’t know. Pero I think pinag-uusapan pa lang siya (they’re still talking about it).

Q: Do you still have time for friends, families?

AR: Yes. I try to make time. I don’t wanna deprive myself of that. Especially my family.

Q: How?

AR: Well, we go to church, as much as possible, every Sunday. But most of the time, for the past three months, medyo wala eh. So I just see to it that I talk to them on the phone. We talk sa sala every morning. So catch up lang. I don’t want to miss out kasi eh especially now that the schedule is very demanding. Even time for myself, I don’t have. But I am not complaining. I am enjoying because this is what I have been asking for since I started.

Q: Don’t you find it ironic that you tried your best to do well in your acting but you got big outside of acting?

AR: It’s about timing eh. Maybe it was not yet my time before.

Q: Aside from being so busy, what do you think is the downside of being so famous?

AR: Well, maybe the sickness. But that’s easy. You just take vitamins, meds and sleep. That’s it. Just the physical exhaustion but it goes away when you see people smiling.

Q: Now that you are very popular, what was your craziest fan encounter?

AR: Well of course yung physical injuries sometimes. You get scratches on your face at kurot (pinch). I can’t really blame them. I don’t mind being physically harmed by the supporters because they get excited eh.

Buti nga may kumukurot eh kaysa wala

(It’s better than nothing).

Thanks to Sun Star Cebu for publishing this interview. I am sure ALDUB Nation will be happy reading this hehe
